Hello my name is Dave Spencer

I've been asked to explain how accessibility works for me. Well here goes :-

To get at the accessibility options you first have to left button click on start and go to the control option and left button click on it. Then you go to the Accessibility option and double left button click on it, this will take you to the area that will let you alter the controls that you want from the mouse to the number keypad.

You will also be able to change the size, colour, and speed of the cursor.

Once you have done this your controls will be as follows:-

  • Press 1 and the cursor will go down to the left at 45 degrees.

  • Press 2 and the cursor will go straight  down.

  • Press 3 and the cursor will go down to the right at 45 degrees.

  • Press 4 and the cursor will go straight left.

  • Press 6 and the cursor will go straight right.

  • Press 7 and the cursor will go up to the left at 45 degrees.

  • Press 8 and the cursor will go straight up.

  • Press 9 and the cursor will go up to the right at 45 degrees.

  • Press 5 is the same as left button click on the mouse.

  • Press the + button is the same as a double left button click on the mouse.

  • Press the minus button will change the No. 5 to a right button click.

  • Press / to toggle the No.5 back to a left button click.

  • Press 0 to drag item on screen.

  • Press Del. Button to drop item you have been dragging.

  • Press Alt & F4 key to close a programme.

There are a lot more keyboard shortcuts you can learn once you have mastered the basics.

Also you can alter the controls so you can press certain keys so you can hold them down, these are called Sticky Keys. These keys are :-

  • Pressing the shift button and a letter key will give you a capital letter.

  • Pressing Crl. & A will highlight text.

  • Pressing Ctr. & C will copy text.

  • Pressing Crl. & V will paste text.

Using these accessibility options allows me to use the computer to its fullest extent. The only thing I have trouble with now is games where speed is the main component of the game. I am at present writing my life story on the computer, I also use outlook express and the internet. And cd writing and digital photography using Print Shop.
