How to run your own radio station

 

 

 

 Install & configuration

 

  •   Install both Shoutcast programs and then configure Shoutcast DSP.

  •   Don't need to change anything in the configuration.

  •   Just need to play music in winamp and click on connect.

  •   This is made up of your ip address.  You need to find out what your ip is before you can give out a link to your radio station.

 

There are two ways to check you are broadcasting:

  •   Just type your ip address into the address box e.g. using my  ip I would type http://62.31.153.207:8000/.  If all is running well, this will take you to a web page showing the song you are currently playing and other details.

 

  •   You can also ask someone to listen to your radio station by typing in your ip address e.g http://62.31.153.207:8000/listen.ps .  This will hopefully automatically start winamp so that they can listen to your music. If it does not start their winamp they will need to press Crtl & L to open play locations.  I'm not sure if this works in winamp3 as I don't like it very much.

 
You should have this running at the bottom of your system tray. If you put your mouse over the SHOUTcast DNAS (GUI)  it should say it has a source. For more information go to the shout cast site. See link below

 

Other Information

 

  It is possible to change information i.e. name of server and you can give out names of songs if you wish but I suggest you learn how to use the standard shoutcast before you go changing things

 

  Warning your ip may change time to time so keep checking that you are still broadcasting.  If you use MIRC type !getip<nick> to give you your ip address. Get Your IP
